This policy applies to Wristshade, the screen dimmer for Wear OS watches distributed on Google Play. Wristshade is developed by Northglance, a business name of 1000577668 Ontario Incorporated.

Summary

Wristshade does not collect personal data, and it does not share anything with anyone. It has no internet access, no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. The only things it keeps are your Wristshade settings, on your watch.

What Wristshade uses, and why

  • Accessibility service (you turn it on). On Wear OS, an accessibility service is the only way an app can draw over other apps and the watch face. Wristshade uses its service only to draw the dark layer at the darkness you choose and, while Panic Blackout is on, to catch the tap or the bezel or crown turn that ends it. The service subscribes to no accessibility events and cannot read what is on your screen. It does not read, record or share screen content, what you type or what you tap. Before you turn it on, Wristshade shows a notice that explains this; nothing changes unless you tap Agree and then turn on Wristshade yourself in Settings > Accessibility. Wristshade is not an accessibility tool.
  • Bezel or crown. On the Wristshade screen, turning the bezel or crown changes the darkness. While Panic Blackout is on, turning it down ends Panic Blackout. These turns are used as they happen and are not kept.
  • Screen state. Wristshade checks whether the watch screen is on, off or in always-on mode, so it can hide the dark layer while the screen is off or in always-on mode and show it again when you wake the watch.
  • Tile. If you add the Wristshade tile, it shows whether the dimmer is on and lets you turn it on or off.

Wristshade asks for no Android permissions: no location, no notifications, no sensors, no storage and no internet.

What is stored, and where

  • Wristshade keeps only its settings, in its private storage on your watch: whether the dimmer is on, the darkness level, whether you have opened the app before, and the time you tapped Agree on the accessibility notice.
  • If your watch’s own backup to your Google account is turned on, Android may include these settings in that backup, under Google’s terms. We never receive them.

What leaves your watch

Nothing that Wristshade uses or stores is sent to us or to anyone else. Wristshade has no internet access, so it cannot send anything.

Your choices and deleting your data

  • You can turn the dimmer off at any time in Wristshade or with the tile, and turn the Wristshade service off at any time in Settings > Accessibility on your watch.
  • To delete everything Wristshade stored, clear its storage in your watch’s app settings, or uninstall Wristshade. We hold no copy anywhere, so there is nothing else to delete.

Third parties

Wristshade does not send your data to any server of its own or to any other company. It contains no advertising, analytics or crash-reporting code. Google Play handles the download and purchase of the app under Google’s own privacy policy.

Children

Wristshade is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Changes to this policy

We will post any change on this page and update the effective date.
